Not a queue, not a chatbot, not a rep working from a script three time zones away. One phone number, answered by the person who does the work.
About
I'm Jason Coplan. DCwebpro started in 1998, providing hosting for other web designers — the people who built sites but didn't want to run servers. Domains, DNS, and design work followed, and the business has been the same three things ever since.
What's changed is how much of it people are expected to manage themselves. A business owner today is supposed to keep track of a registrar login, a hosting control panel, an SSL certificate, a DNS record, an email provider, and whoever last touched the theme — usually across five companies that don't talk to each other. When something breaks, everyone points at someone else.
That's the problem I actually solve. Not any single one of those pieces, but the fact that nobody owns the whole picture. Here, one person does.
Slowly at the start and quickly after that. Every new account begins with a conversation rather than a checkout button, because fifteen minutes on the phone prevents the two expensive mistakes: paying for a plan that doesn't fit, and losing email during a migration that nobody planned properly.
I'll also tell you when the cheapest option is the right one, and when you don't need what you're asking for. That costs me money in the short run and has kept clients for twenty years.
I'm the third generation of my family to work in communications. My grandfather, J. Edie Coplan, and my father, Ben Coplan — a farm radio broadcaster who spent his career explaining complicated things to people who needed to act on them — both worked from the same principle I do: educate to cultivate. Help someone understand what they're looking at, and the relationship takes care of itself.
It's an odd inheritance for a hosting company. But it's why this site tries to explain what a nameserver is instead of hiding it, and why you'll get an answer rather than an upsell.
Guilford, Vermont — just south of Brattleboro. Most of my clients are in the tri-state corridor running from Keene through Brattleboro to Greenfield, largely because that's where the referrals come from. The servers don't care where you are and phones work everywhere, so distance has never actually been the constraint.
